Commercial Kitchen & Bakery Services was founded by Clay Powell in 2013 after he decided to start a company based on his desire to provide outstanding customer service to the clients he had worked with over the years as a technician. Clay began his career in the bakery equipment field in 1991 at Baxter, a large manufacturing company in Orting, where he performed service work on equipment. He later worked for a bakery equipment servicing company that had him traveling across the United States and to several foreign countries to further develop his skills.
In 2013, Clay decided it was time to start Commercial Kitchen & Bakery Services (CKB) so he could deliver the high level of customer service he believed clients deserved. Over the years, Clay has built strong relationships with his customers by demonstrating reliability, trust, honesty, and integrity.
Not long after the company’s inception, Lee (Clay’s son and business partner) joined the team, and together they began sharing ownership responsibilities to ensure customer satisfaction as the company grew. Lee, who has a strong background in mechanical systems, quickly learned the ropes in the large bakery equipment industry. With a deep commitment to customer satisfaction, Lee has helped the company expand its reach, serving both the local community and customers beyond.
As CKB continued to grow, the need for a larger team naturally led to the inclusion of family members to continue the legacy. Garrett (Clay’s nephew) came on board in 2021 to assist with installations, removals, and equipment service jobs. Jaden (Lee’s son) joined the team in 2016 to support similar tasks. Candace (Clay’s daughter) joined in 2022 to assist with various administrative functions and overall company organization. Kyle joined CKB in 2023 to help with installations, equipment servicing, and all things mechanical.
Last but not least is Jessica, who has been with CKB since the beginning. She is our administrative rock, wearing multiple hats daily and knowing the ins and outs of the company like no one else.
